Avia is PhD Candidate in Theatre and Performance Studies at York University (Canada). Her research examines how heritage and traditional cultural practices are performed and the ways in which cultural policy can better support living traditions.
She has worked extensively as a creative producer with festivals and cultural organizations across North America. Avia serves on the Board of the Country Dance and Song Society.
