Academic achievements, social engagement initiatives:
Dr George Dikaios is a Senior Research Fellow at the UNESCO Chair on Climate Diplomacy of the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens (NKUA). He also serves in various positions at the same University: He is an adjunct lecturer at the Department of Ports Management and Shipping, a post-doctoral fellow at the Department of Political Science and Public Administration, and a research fellow at the Institute of European Integration and Policy.
George received a Sylff Fellowship in 2019 for his doctoral studies and Sylff Research Grants (SRG) in 2022 and 2023 for his post-doctoral research on the impacts of climate change policies in port management in Greece.
Besides his Sylff grants, George has received research scholarships from the NKUA and the A. G. Leventis Foundation. He studied political science at the NKUA and Leiden University (The Netherlands) and received his PhD from the former. He is a member of several scientific associations (UACES, GPSG, etc.) and often participates in international conferences, and his articles have been published in Greek and international academic journals.
His research interests revolve around European policies for combating climate change and (seaborn) transport, climate diplomacy, maritime affairs, and shipping policies. His teaching experience expands in climate change policies and diplomacy, blue growth and sustainability, and EU (transport) policies.
