Xuan Nguyen received a Sylff fellowship while pursuing a PhD in the economics program at the University of New South Wales in Sydney, Australia. With an SRA award, he conducted research on trade and intellectual property rights for three weeks in 2010 under the supervision of Professor Jota Ishikawa of Hitotsubashi University, Japan, a top trade economist. Through this experience, he was able to connect with other leading professors and to participate in the Asia Pacific Trade Seminars (APTS).
