Ms. Amrit Kour, PhD in Political Science, Jawaharlal Nehru University, New Delhi, India. I submitted my Ph.D. thesis title “Women and Social Security: A Study of Welfare schemes in Assam” on 29th December 2023. My research interests are welfare state, public policy, gender, governance, development, north-east India. Till now I have published four articles in different peer-reviewed journals. In January 2021, I was one of the ten recipients of the international SYLFF fellowship (Nippon fellowship), Japan in India for my PhD work from 2021-2023. In December 2020 I have been awarded the national level- “NAMASTE Governor Acharya Award” for my research contribution in north-east India.
Nevertheless, I have administrative work experience where I worked as an executive member for student social service organisation National Service Scheme (NSS) -JNU for one year (2017-2018) and a project manager under the project name ‘women empowerment’ in 2016 for an NGO ‘Samarpan Foundation’ in Guwahati, Assam. I have an experience as Assistant Researcher for a non-government organization ‘Svayam Shakti’ in New Delhi, India. Under this organization, I conduct research on rural and urban areas of Indian states and design schemes on mental well-being of women. Here I collected large number of qualitative and quantitative survey data and using various social science methodology to interpret it.
I understand the value of time management and continue work on self -development and exploring new knowledge. I have an experience on administrative skills which helps me to work with teams and get projects done right. My adaptability allows me to work in many different environments, in addition to speaking with people coming from various backgrounds.
